on a mobility scooter milage 30697.20 miles raised £76,519.77 fundraising on behalf of bbc news 2nd june 2018 good afternoon everyone, well i think i can safely say without fear of contradiction that the wifi in the hospital isn't very good most of the time! i've been sending messages to friends who have then been posting them on facebook. needless to say i'm still stuck in hospital, in fact i've been a tad poorly the last few days, temperature north of 39 degrees, sleeping lots and not able to eat. the doctors informed me the other day they will not be discharging me until my temperature comes back down to normal for twenty four hours, that was before i started feeling ill. this morning, a different tack, the infection isn't clearing, probably not helped by my not being able to take tablets for just over twenty four hours. do they bring forward my leg amputation? do they get me on iv antibiotics, no idea, the blood cultures won't be ready until at least tomorrow. .. to top it all i had a "wobble", missing missy, i have been given permission to escape this afternoon only to find that the main bus i need to get to see her doesn't run at weekends... lets see what happens this week... 17th may 2018 good morning everyone, well this is my first venture online in nearly two weeks, it may be more, i can't honestly remember... although nothing was been posted on my website i need to say thank you to neil berryman and andy wedge who are page admins on facebook and have been posting bits to keep you updated. the fact i was readmitted five days after being discharged didn't do me any favours! the biggest problem was missy, they were not doing anything with me until she was safe and being looked after, step in nicola, a lady that works wth my brother, she knew of the new start cat rescue centre in huntley, they have kindly fostered her whilst i'm yet again stuck in hospital. she has had a few visitors making a fuss of her, i've also had an update from jackie that she is settling in well and i'm guessing here, rulling the roost! a little update about me - i'm still here... no idea at present as to whats going on other than i don't think they will be rushing to get rid of me. 5th may 2018 good afternoon everyone, well its been a busy week with people coming to see me, kate from the discharge team (ex-forces) monday, sam, tissue viability nurse (ex-ramc) tuesday, psyciatrist(?) wednesday and ken from alabare.co.uk (homeless shelter friday. my brain was befuddled before all of this, its even worse now! the gist of it all is they didn't want me back in the trailer/caravan becuase of my wound, sam was trying to get me transfered to a community hosptal for recovery and rehab, that fell through... kate and ken wanted me to apply for the homeless shelter in gloucester, they don't allow animals or have anywhere secure to store my scooter and trailer, that was a no go :( in the end i was discharged yesterday afternoon, i do have one concern, my temperature is still peaking at 38+ degrees occaisionally. anyway on to happy things, i was pleased to see missy and she me, we both went down the club i had a couple of pints and wasin bed by 2030hrs! one thing that has struck me is the way the plants have shot up since i was addmitted to hospital, i slept a lot again today so i would like to get out with the camera tomorrow... 1st may 2018 good morning everyone, a short update as there hasn't been that much happening. i've been a tad poorly and am now starting to feel a bit better. yesterday things started to gather pace with my discharge, agencies this time have got involved and are sorting out somewhere for me to go. the other side of my health has also been taken into account, the mental health teams have got involved, mainly because of an incident last week, they are again coming to see me today. because of the problems with my head at times i've intentionally stayed off facebook, apologies for not reading any messages you may have posted, i will get round to them. this next bit some people won't like! part of my healing has involved putting maggots on the wound, these break down the rotton/infected tissue and help clean the wound, sounds gross but it works. 16th april 2018 good evening everyone, well its finally caught up with me again, i'm being readmitted to hospital, annoying in away, the weather is warming and the flowers are bursting out! once i know what is going on i'll update you again... 11th april 2018 good evening everyone, well i posted an update on friday and very shortly i was in bed and sleeping for the best part of thirty-six hours! the symtoms were the start of what i had in february and hospitalised me. remembering this i started pilling water in to me everytime i woke, this managed me to stay out of hospital. today, wednesday i'm feeling a tiny bit better, still sleeping lots, feeling cold and shivery and keeping an eye to make sure i don't end up dehydrated again. monday i had to stire myself for a war pensions medical, luckily the doctor was coming to me. once i had described where i was he told me he saw me in the summer of 2014 in fowey in cornwall when he was on holiday. today i had a meeting with help for heroes, just wanted to make sure i was ok, bits of help offered, being a bloke was none commital, i'm told the real word is stubborn... i've had the dressings changed on the right foot today, not looking good, bloods and urine taken to be sure, a needle for one not the other, i'm not divulging which way round it was :) friday i have another dressing change then its hospital on monday for a major check up... 6th april 2018 good evening everyone, i'll start with the note so godd news. i've had a mixed week this week, problems with my head and my legs. tuesday i was supposed to be in hospital for a dressing change, i'm afraid i couldn't face the kids on the bus if they started to get loud, in fact i turned my phone off so that wouldn't be disturbed... i turned the phone on yesterday to a raft of messages on whatsapp and sms! i thought my leg was heading in the right direction, i was wrong, the infection is spreading and i now have a secondary infection, also my kidneys are starting to twinge, i should imagine i'll be back in hospital soon, i've also been sleeping alot today and finding it cold even whilst lying in a quilted jacket and in the sun in the caravan :( right the good news. the last two days have brightened up wonderfully, i'm sure someone locally opened a box of butterflies, brimstone and small tortoiseshell were every where! i'm sure i saw a peacock as well. on the bird front i saw my first swallow on wednesday afternoon, six days earlier than normal. there has also been a large fall of chiffchaffs, singing everywhere, even on the drive, missy was just out of range :) most days now i'm seeing munjac deer in the wood next to the caravan, i've also seen roe and fallow deer here. i've been trying to find somewhere to put the remote camera out, no luck yet... for those on facebook that may wonder what i've been posting about, going postal and an anthromorpic personification on a horse called binky, its terry pratchett's discworld, i'm going to be watching the hogfarther tonight... 1st april 2018 happy easter everyone, its been a quiet week workwise, i've nearly finished part one of the iwm data, i'm hoping the next phases don't take as long though i am not going to hold my breath! for those on facebook this is old news. a bit of a downside on friday was getting a leak in the caravan roof that resulted in my bedding getting wet and i didn't know until i was making the bed! it was an uncomfortable night. saturday morning, search the internet, find a builders merchantand phone, luckly the locl merchants had one, a bit oversized but it will do. i struggled to fit it but it is done and being tested tonight as the rain has started again! hopefully we can stay a bit drier! on the plus side it would appear that my bad leg is heading in the right direc
